The Lies we were told: Taking Control of Our Health

It all started in 1999 when I worked as the District Nurse for a school district in Illinois. As part of my duties, I wrote a health newsletter for parents and staff, aiming to keep them informed about various health concerns. One particular topic that caught my attention was the dangers of consuming Aspartame (NutraSweet), a common artificial sweetener found in many diet products. Despite its approval by the FDA, there were over 90 symptoms associated with Aspartame consumption, including weight gain, vision problems, hearing loss, headaches, and more severe conditions like brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, and chronic fatigue.

How Did This Happen?

A pivotal moment came when a concerned parent reached out to me. Her grandson, a healthy young man, was experiencing a retinal detachment after consuming large amounts of diet soda in college. This unusual and troubling case highlighted the potential dangers of Aspartame, which were not widely recognized at the time. Although the American Cancer Society and FDA still claim that Aspartame is safe in small amounts, my experience taught me that we cannot always rely on these organizations to protect our health. This revelation drove me to advocate for taking health into our own hands and not blindly trusting products endorsed by entities with potential conflicts of interest.

Empowering Change as a Nutrition Wellness Coach

My journey as a District Nurse opened my eyes to the importance of questioning mainstream health advice and seeking out the truth. This experience laid the foundation for my career as a nutrition wellness coach. I am dedicated to helping individuals understand the impact of their dietary choices and encouraging them to adopt healthier, more mindful eating habits.

As a nutrition wellness coach, I focus on empowering my clients with knowledge and practical tools to make informed health decisions. This includes educating them about the hidden dangers in processed foods and artificial additives, just as I did with Aspartame. By promoting a diet rich in whole, plant-based foods, I aim to help people prevent and reverse chronic diseases, improve their overall well-being, and live healthier, more vibrant lives.

Taking Control of Your Health

It's crucial to remember that we must take an active role in our health. The story of Aspartame serves as a reminder that not everything approved by regulatory bodies is necessarily safe. We need to educate ourselves, make informed decisions, and prioritize natural, whole foods over processed options. By doing so, we can protect ourselves from potential harm and support our bodies in achieving optimal health.

If you're ready to take control of your health and explore the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle, I am here to guide you on this journey. Together, we can uncover the truth about what we eat and transform our lives for the better.
